Miami Dade College, in partnership with Encompass Onsite, will help South Florida’s service professionals further their education. A leading provider of facility solutions for businesses, Encompass Onsite committed $125,000 to the MDC Foundation to establish an annual scholarship fund to support students working in, or pursuing careers in, the service industry.

The Encompass Service Professionals Scholarship was created out of a need to provide more career pathways that allow front-line service workers to move into higher-level management positions. Scholarships will assist students with tuition fees and is a demonstration of Encompass Onsite’s commitment to creating 1,000 Better Jobs in Florida.

“Encompass wants our contribution to Miami to make a powerful and lasting impact,” said Marcell Haywood, Encompass Onsite’s founder and chief executive officer. “Many service professionals struggle with accessing the formal education needed to meaningfully advance their careers toward middle and upper managerial positions, and beyond. With the Encompass Service Professionals Scholarship Fund, we are excited to help promising professionals from our region achieve their fullest potential.”

MDC offers students more than 300 distinct degree pathways including baccalaureate degrees, associate and accelerated certificate programs. MDC’s hospitality, tourism and business programs are renowned for providing a tailored curriculum that responds to South Florida industry needs and trends.

“We are proud to work with Encompass Onsite to provide students with more opportunities for career growth in our community, especially in Miami’s booming service industry,” said MDC’s President, Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón. “This scholarship will not only make a difference for our students; this can have ripple effects on families, our community and the local economy because we are training workers for higher, better paying jobs.”

The scholarship will be available later this year for employees working in, or interested in, the service industry who show financial need and are majoring in business or a related field at Homestead or West Campuses. Spouses and dependents of current Encompass Onsite employees are also eligible.
