Miami Dade College recently received a major boost in its mission to help prepare students for the jobs and technologies of tomorrow thanks to a generous donation from AT&T to support the College’s new DronesUp program.
This intensive, eight-week training course provides live flight sessions and lectures to help students master the art of safe drone technology and operation as part of a collaborative effort between The Idea Center and MDC’s Eig-Watson School of Aviation. Students receive drone training from School of Aviation instructors while the Idea Center educates students regarding the business aspects of the industry.
The unique combination of theory and hands-on learning offered in Miami Dade College’s course prepares students for careers as commercial drone pilots.
Graduates who complete the program earn an Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) course completion certificate for having mastered proper flight control and hardware maintenance for safe and legal flight within U.S. airspace. In addition, students will also develop an enhanced understanding of how drones are changing diverse industries, including agriculture, real estate, health care and more.
AT&T is an advocate of drone technology, and its national drone program is driving innovation and technology as it focuses on enhancing its network and developing advanced solutions for its customers. Together, MDC and AT&T are moving toward the future by pushing the envelope on what’s technologically possible for drones.
