Colors of SuccessGraduates set to embark on the rest of their life’s journey

Stephanie Estrada, Miami Dade College Graduate

MDC’s student body is a diverse blend of ethnicities and economic backgrounds, giving rise to a cultural richness that is unique to our community. Whether full or part-time, juggling work and family, or just out of high school, each student arrived at MDC with his or her own set of personal strengths and challenges. Commencement is a time of celebration and a recognition of the hard work and dedication that has led each student to this important milestone.

Several distinguished speakers will be on hand to share their knowledge and encourage the graduates to embrace the rest of their academic and professional journeys. This year’s speakers include Dr. Joseph E. Aoun, president of Northeastern University, who will speak at the day’s first ceremony for the North Campus; Mr. Robert E. Sanchez, chairman and CEO of Ryder System, Inc., who will deliver remarks at the InterAmerican and Homestead Campuses ceremony; Mr. Brian K. Fitzgerald, CEO of The Business-Higher Education Forum, who will speak to graduates at the Wolfson and West Campuses ceremony; Dr. Freeman A. Hrabowski III, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, who will address the Medical and Hialeah Campuses ceremony; and Dr. Donna E. Shalala, trustee professor of Political Science and Health Policy at the University of Miami, will deliver remarks at the closing ceremony of the day for Kendall Campus graduates.
