A Day of Free Legal Assistance for Citizenship Applicants in Miami

Miami Dade College is teaming up with the New Americans Campaign and Catholic Legal Services to offer free legal assistance for those wishing to apply for U.S. citizenship.  More than 150 lawyers will gather at Marlins Park on March 19 at a “citizenship clinic” to help potential citizens fill out their applications. Those who are eligible for citizenship and arrive at the clinic with all the necessary documents, will leave the event with a completed application form in an envelope that is ready to be placed in the mail. The legal help is free of charge but applicants will still have to pay the application fee of $680 which must be included with the application. Those who receive public benefits may be eligible to receive a waiver of the application fee and should bring supporting paperwork to the clinic.

Are you eligible for U.S. Citizenship?  Check and see.

To help members of the community prepare for the event, MDC is hosting information sessions at various campuses. These sessions will cover the application process, eligibility requirements and necessary documentation.  Anyone planning to attend the clinic at Marlins Park is strongly advised to first attend an information session at one of the MDC campuses. Sessions will be held from Feb. 27 – March 12th. Attending one of these sessions will ensure that applicants are well prepared and can successfully submit an application.

Sign up for an MDC Information Session.
