Miami Dade College’s North Campus was transformed into a winter wonderland for its annual celebration “Children’s Holiday at North.”
The holiday tradition which brings thousands of children of all ages together, was hosted this year by Jasmina Marazita, anchor and reporter for Telemundo 51. The day started with the arrival of Santa and was immediately followed by a parade led by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The parade also included Santa’s little helpers, several characters and marching bands.
Other highlights include a 12-foot mountain of snow where children experienced sledding South Florida style. Live performances on three stages included a Polynesian dance group, jazz bands and orchestras from various middle and high schools..
In addition, families enjoyed a variety of exhibits featuring wild animal shows, a petting zoo, games, and arts and crafts. The event included a Holidays-Around-the-World Center showcasing global holiday customs and Little Hands for Human Rights, where children have the opportunity to show their creativity through an expression of human rights.
