A Message to Students Regarding COVID-19

Dear Students,

Miami Dade College has continued to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) locally and across the globe. Following the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Miami Dade County, the College has actively been taking steps to address the safety and well-being of our students.

While MDC classes and operations continue as regularly scheduled, MDC has canceled all events college-wide until further notice based on recommendations from the Florida Governor.

We strongly advise you to take precautions against the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Those who are experiencing influenza-like symptoms, with a fever greater than 100 degrees, and other related conditions, including cough, body aches, severe sore throat, or a runny nose, should consult with a medical professional and stay off campus until medical clearance is provided by a health care provider. Students who do not have health coverage are encouraged to contact Baptist Health Care On Demand. As a public health offering, they are providing free screening for cold or flu like symptoms (https://baptisthealth.net/en/lp/pages/care-on-demand.aspx).

Students who are ill or may be at risk due to existing health condition(s) should consult with their professors to discuss academic adjustments. Medical documentation may be required upon return to class.

Visit mdc.edu/coronavirus/ for the latest information.  Contact your Campus Dean of Students if you have questions or concerns.
