NWSA seniors Ana Pujol, dance, and Kamila Fernandez, visual arts, are New World School of the Arts most recent winners, both earning a Silver Knight Honorable Mention. Now in its 66th year, the Silver Knight Awards recognize the academic excellence and community service projects of South Florida high school seniors in public and private schools.
Earning her Silver Knight Honorable Mention in the category of Journalism, Ana Pujol’s service in the field of photography and reporting has been hailed by recognized South Florida institutions such as the Armour Dance Theatre, a dance organization that trains 1000 children at six sites across Miami-Dade County. “Ana has worked extensively with our organization to help us effectively communicate our work and impact in the community, said Ruth Wiesen, ADT Artistic Director and NWSA dance faculty. “Ana has given us a gift that we will be able to use to inform potential funders in a way that is immediately compelling and informative.” Joining 305 Pink Pack in 2022 as a volunteer photographer and videographer, Ana has “displayed an incredible level of passion for capturing moments that tell compelling stories. She has utilized her creative prowess not only to capture visually stunning imagery but also to convey the impactful narratives behind our organization’s mission,” noted Rosemary A. Carrera, Founder and Executive Director. 305 Pink Pack is a South Florida program that gives women with all types of cancers the equity they need to access their cancer care and recover from it.
Kamila Fernandez, who won a Silver Knight Honorable Mention in the field of Business, is a strong and versatile visual artist whose passion for art is evident in every piece she creates, as she effortlessly combines technical proficiency with a deep understanding of visual storytelling. “In addition to her artistic talents, Kamila has also proven herself to be a savvy businesswoman. She recently won a place in the NFTE national business plan competition, a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and innovative thinking. Her ability to merge her artistic talents with her business acumen is truly remarkable.
