Univision Anchor and MDC Alumna Teresa Rodriguez to Host Academic Convocation at North Campus

Miami, April 4, 2018Miami Dade College’s (MDC) North Campus will host its 43rd Annual Academic Convocation highlighting the academic achievements of students who have excelled in their chosen fields on Wednesday, April 11 at noon.  The keynote speaker will be Teresa Rodriguez, news anchor for Univision Communications and MDC Hall of Fame inductee.

The students participating in the convocation are highly recommended by their professors as outstanding in their academic discipline. Students are recognized for their talents, persistence, dedication, and discipline as well as service excellence at MDC’s North Campus.

The first woman to ever host a prime-time Spanish-language newscast, Rodriguez has been honored with numerous accolades. She is the winner of eight Emmys for her TV specials and three for her investigative reports and features.  Rodriguez has served as the spokesperson for “La Familia de Hoy;” a series of vignettes providing helpful information to Hispanics on issues such as immunization and voter registration.  In addition to her work with Univision, Rodriguez was an anchor at NBC4 in Miami.  She is an alumnus of MDC’s North Campus and expressed how honored she was to serve as the keynote speaker for the Academic Convocation adding: “I love Miami Dade College and what it stands for.”
