The Idea Center at MDC Presents the Future of AI & Healthcare: the U.S., Japan, and Israel

Miami, Feb. 11, 2019— The Idea Center at Miami Dade College (MDC) will present a discussion on trilateral cooperation on the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and healthcare on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 5:30-8 p.m.  The event is in partnership with AJC Miami, the Japan Foundation, U.S.-Japan Council, Consulate-General of Japan, and the Consulate-General of Israel.

“We value our role as a convener on emerging trends and technologies such as artificial intelligence and are excited to host this important discussion on AI in the healthcare industry,” said Romi Bhatia, Executive Director of the Idea Center at MDC.

The panel discussion will focus on the pioneer nations in medtech, which are Japan, the United States, and Israel. Incredible changes are underway in the medtech industry that will shape the future of healthcare and aging populations. As AI continues to unlock new possibilities for safety and efficiency, the discussion will explore what societal impacts are expected, problems that may arise, and solutions that should be developed.

“In addition to an excellent opportunity to learn and discuss the opportunities and challenges of AI, this event will demonstrate the progress and collaboration that is taking place among three leading innovation nations” added Brian Siegal, AJC’s Miami and Broward Director.

Expert speakers will address areas of trilateral cooperation, as well as major innovations on the horizon.  The discussion will feature thought leaders in the industry including Wolf Shlagman, CEO/founder of Care Angel and life-long creative technologist, healthcare futurist and cognitive science evangelist; Dr. Hideaki Takeda, professor at National Institute of Informatics (NII), Japan, and chair of the Ethics Committee, Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI); and Douglas Dotan,  President of CRG Medical, Inc., a patient safety information technology company, and also responsible for developing the Pegwin Insights software applications that use machine learning and medical artificial intelligence algorithms to meet the needs of protecting patients from preventable harm.
