Registration Is Open For Miami Dade College’s 2024 Summer Camps

Miami, May 13, 2024 – Miami Dade College (MDC) will once again offer a wide range of summer camps available at all eight MDC campuses, including free tech camps; an animation camp; pre-college certification programs for high school grads and learning/fun camps for children as young as age seven. Registration is open now and camps begin as early as June 10.

FREE TECH SUMMER CAMPS

MDC’s School of Engineering and Technology (EnTec) is offering several one-week tech summer camps free of charge. Space is limited. From CyberCamp to Drone Control and Programming, All Hands-on Tech, Electric Vehicles and The Apple Swift Experience, among many others, each program offers a unique learning opportunity. Camps start on June 10, 17 and 24 and meet Monday through Friday at Hialeah, Homestead, Kendall, North, Padrón, West and Wolfson Campuses. FREE AVIATION TECHNOLOGY SUMMER CAMP

This free camp is designed to introduce young adults to career opportunities in aviation and aerospace. Students will have hands-on experience in aviation history, the fundamentals of aerodynamics, and the many careers available in the aerospace field. This one-week camp will be held from Monday, July 29 to Thursday, August 1 from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and meets at Kendall Campus. Open to middle and high school students. ANIMATION & GAMING CAMPS

MDC’s Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex (MAGIC) encourages kids and teens to become the next generation of developers, animators, video game designers, programmers and mixed reality creators. The MAGIC Summer Camps feature hands-on, project-based learning infused with the latest in the creative industries, animation, video game development, VR, 3D printing technology and equipment. Camps include Esports Camp, Animation Camp and 3D Game Design Camp, and are held at the MAGIC facility at MDC Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. The facility is equipped with industry-standard technology and software, a motion capture studio, an audio recording studio and a screening room. Instructors include highly respected tech educators, accomplished artists and industry professionals passionate about sharing knowledge. Scholarships are available for eligible high school students.  KIDS AND TEEN COLLEGE AT KENDALL CAMPUS

Providing an educational and fun environment where kids, teens and parents can customize their schedule, the Kids and Teen College at MDC Kendall Campus offers programs for students ages 7 – 17. There are options to attend the camp half day or full day, with prices ranging from $125 – $255. Activities include acting, baking, cartooning and comics, dance fitness, jewelry design, LEGO robotics, digital art, SAT preparation and more. FREE STEM WAVE SUMMER INSTITUTE AT HOMESTEAD CAMPUS

This free six-week summer program for incoming, dual enrollment high school students ages 14 -17 will introduce participants to vast career options in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Participants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and have obtained a passing score on Accuplacer, SAT or ACT. The program runs June 17- July 26. PRE-COLLEGE CERTIFICATIONS AT MEDICAL CAMPUS

Graduating high school seniors can take advantage of two certification opportunities at MDC Medical Campus: Pre-college Electrocardiograph Technician (EKG) and Pre-College Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT).
