With an enrollment of more than 165,000 students, MDC is the largest institution of higher education and the largest Hispanic-serving institution in the country. It confers more associate’s degrees than any other U.S. college, and ranks first in conferring degrees to Hispanics and African-Americans. MDC’s “open door” academic policy is strategically used to meet the goals of academic equality, and ensures that all persons seeking a higher education will have that opportunity. MDC has admitted more than 2,000,000 students and counting and is often called Democracy’s College because of this achievement and the fact that 192 nations are represented in its current student body.
