Miami Dade College’s Padrón Campus Celebrates International Education Week

Miami, Nov. 14, 2019Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Padrón Campus will observe International Education Week, Nov. 18-22, to promote study abroad, foreign language studies, and global citizenship.

International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the enriching benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of their efforts to promote programs that prepare students for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the U.S. First held in 2000, International Education Week is celebrated at colleges and universities throughout the nation and in more than 100 countries worldwide.

This year’s celebration will be highlighted by the following events:

International Films and Books Display

Celebrate International Education Week with the Learning Commons.  Check out an impressive collection of international films and books.

Monday, Nov. 18

International Math Pictionary

Students will play Pictionary with international and math themes.

Tuesday, Nov. 19

Travel Abroad Opportunities

Students will learn about Game of Thrones themed study abroad literature courses (LIT 2480 and LIT 2090) offered in Spain and Morocco during Summer A, 2020.

Teaching and Learning in Spain

This informative session, hosted by the Spanish Consulate in Miami, is about the Language and Culture Assistants program in Spain. Join us to learn about summer courses as well as teaching assistant positions in Spain. Learn about exciting opportunities to experience Spanish culture and expand your horizons through education.

Wednesday, Nov. 20

Geo Quiz

Students from EAP, Social Science and Local High Schools compete in several rounds with “Global IQ Games” for prizes.

International Fest

Padrón campus will be hosting an International Festival. This will be an exciting time to celebrate the sounds and flavors of different countries. Participants are welcome to sample food from Pollo Campero and enjoy some lively international music.

New Zealand Video Presentation

This video presents the most important places to visit in New Zealand. It also includes information about the British influence and the Maori culture.
