Miami Dade College’s Jazz at Wolfson Series Presents Wolfson Jazz Ensembles Mar. 13

Miami, Feb. 28, 2018 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Arts and Philosophy Department at the Wolfson Campus will continue its successful Jazz at Wolfson Presents series at 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 13, with the Wolfson Jazz Ensembles, directed by Dr. Michael Di Liddo. Concert is free and open to the public.

The Wolfson Jazz Ensembles are comprised of three groups. The Horace Silver group takes its name from the legendary pianist and composer of 1950s and ’60s jazz. The Blue Note group pays tribute to famed jazz record label of classic and groundbreaking recordings. The program’s most seasoned group, the Hard Bop Jazz Ensemble, has included some of South Florida’s finest emerging musicians. The ensemble has performed at major jazz festivals in Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands and has received DownBeat magazine awards. Former students have performed with Arturo Sandoval, David Liebman and Pit Bull.

“This group of students has been extraordinary,” says Dr. Di Liddo. “They have worked hard, diligently studying the music they will be presenting. By intense listening to definitive recordings, analyzing improvised solos, and observing group interactions, they have taken their playing to a new level. They are excited to share their new-found skills and presenting this great American musical art form.”

MDC’s Jazz at Wolfson Presents features live performances that run monthly from September through April. All Jazz at Wolfson Presents events are free and open to the public.
