Miami Dade College’s Jazz at Wolfson Series Presents Drummer John Riley on April 5

Miami, March 24, 2023 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Arts and Philosophy Department continues its successful jazz series, Jazz at Wolfson Presents, with drummer John Riley, at noon, Wednesday, April 5, at MDC Wolfson Campus. This and all Jazz at Wolfson Presents concerts are free and open to the public.

A critically acclaimed performer, author and teacher, Riley has worked with the world’s leading jazz musicians for over 40 years. He’s a four-time GRAMMY award winner and nominated 14 times. Riley has played on hundreds of recordings and at major venues with some of jazz’s greatest, including Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Woody Herman, John Scofield, Joe Lovano, Bob Mintzer, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, among many others.

Riley is the author of “The Art of Bop Drumming,” currently being published in five languages, “Beyond Bop Drumming, The Jazz Drummer’s Workshop” and the DVD “The Master Drummer.” He is also on the faculty at the Manhattan School of Music and Kutztown University, is an Artist-in-Residence at the Amsterdam Conservatory in Holland and has taught master classes around the world. He has a master’s degree in jazz studies from the Manhattan School of Music, and a bachelor’s degree in jazz studies from the University of North Texas.

Jazz at Wolfson Presents, now celebrating its 25th anniversary, is Miami-Dade County’s longest continuously running free jazz series.
