Miami Dade College’s Jazz at Wolfson Presents Trombonist John Fedchock March 15

Miami, March 7, 2023 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Arts and Philosophy department continues its successful jazz series, Jazz at Wolfson Presents, with Trombonist John Fedchock, at noon, Wednesday, March 15, at MDC Wolfson Campus. This and all Jazz at Wolfson Presents concerts are free and open to the public.

Fedchock’s illustrious career in jazz spans over four decades. Since his emergence on the scene in 1980, he has established himself as a world-class trombone soloist, a heralded bandleader and a Grammy-nominated arranger. Fedchock’s multifaceted talents have led him to become one of the city’s premier jazz artists. His critically acclaimed John Fedchock New York Big Band has become a marquee group showcasing his trombone and arranging, and the band’s all-star soloists. The band’s recordings have appeared in jazz radio’s Top Ten. His writing skills have been recognized with two Grammy nominations for Instrumental Arranging. Small group projects with his quartet and sextet have placed his distinct solo voice in the spotlight.

Fedchock began his career touring with the legendary Woody Herman for seven years and served as chief arranger for Herman’s last two Grammy-nominated albums. He also toured with T.S. Monk, Gerry Mulligan, Louie Bellson, Jon Faddis and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band.

Born in Cleveland, Fedchock is a graduate of Ohio State University and holds a master’s degree from the Eastman School of Music. He is an in-demand clinician and conducts seminars and workshops worldwide. As a solo artist, he appears throughout the U.S. and abroad performing as a guest trombonist, composer and conductor. His collaboration with the prominent instrument maker XO Brass to create a professional line of jazz trombones has proven to be an overwhelming success in both innovative design and industry popularity.

This presentation of John Fedchock is partly funded through a grant by XO Professional Brass. John Fedchock performs on XO Trombones exclusively.
