Miami, Oct. 28, 2022 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Arts and Philosophy Department continues its successful jazz series, Jazz at Wolfson Presents, with the MDC Jazz Faculty Quintet performing at noon, Wednesday, Nov. 2, at MDC Wolfson Campus. This and all Jazz at Wolfson Presents concerts are free and open to the public.
A group of creative musicians with immense talent and polished skills, the MDC Jazz Faculty Quintet is an amazing ensemble of the College’s own. Individually heralded as some of South Florida’s finest musicians, the quintet features Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Ed Calle, guitarist Mike Di Liddo, pianist Jim Gasior, bassist Gary Thomas and drummer Ludwig Afonso. As diverse musicians with a variety of musical backgrounds, their performances project a blending of styles that could only come together in jazz.
In addition to teaching at MDC, these musicians are active in the jazz community performing at various venues throughout South Florida, the U.S. and the world. The quintet presents original works and select compositions from jazz repertoire.
MDC’s Jazz at Wolfson Presents features live performances that run monthly from September through April.
