Miami Dade College’s Center Stage @ Meek Series Presents Jurassic Park Actor Béchir Sylvain on Sept. 18

Miami, Sept. 9, 2025 – Miami Dade College’s Carrie P. Meek Entrepreneurial Education Center, located in the heart of Liberty City, will host MDC alumnus and Haitian-American actor Béchir Sylvain, best known for his recent role in the blockbusterJurassic World: Rebirth.” Sylvain will share his journey from MDC to Hollywood in a fireside chat at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, as part of the Center Stage @ Meek series. This event is free and open to the public.

Launched this summer to highlight the vibrant voices and talents within MDC and the community, Center Stage @ Meek offers a dynamic range of performances—from live spoken word and musical journeys to thought-provoking storytelling and visual art displays. Sylvain will discuss his journey from MDC to Hollywood.

“Center Stage @ Meek is more than entertainment—it’s a platform for dialogue, self-expression, and shared experience,” said Chimene Garrison, Executive Director of the Meek Center. “It connects us all in ways that are meaningful and lasting. Béchir Sylvain’s return to MDC as part of this series is especially powerful, showing our students that their dreams are possible.”

A writer, director, and producer, Sylvain is also widely recognized for his roles on the Starz’s hit series “BMF,” BET+’s “Diarra from Detroit,” and TBS’s “Claws.” His work spans acclaimed stage performances—earning him both an Obie Award and an NAACP Theater Award—to appearances on “This Is Us,” “Better Call Saul,” “Chicago PD,” “Black-ish,” and “Grace and Frankie

Other Center Stage @ Meek productions have featured poetic storytellers, vocalists, and performance artists, paired with fireside chats and Q&A sessions that offer deeper insight into the artists’ journeys and messages. The series will continue expanding to include local musicians, published authors, emerging playwrights, dance ensembles, and multimedia artists.

The Carrie P. Meek Center is an outreach facility of MDC North Campus, committed to empowering individuals through education, workforce training, and community-centered initiatives.
