Miami, April 11, 2023 – Miami Dade College (MDC) will unveil its second Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center at MDC Wolfson Campus in the heart of downtown Miami. The state-of-the-art facility will offer classes, workshops, events and activities to prepare the future AI workforce and upskill current professionals in this growing field. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of the AI Center will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18.
As part of the AI Center opening, MDC will also launch its Metaversity, a digital-twin campus created by VictoryXR. This hyper-realistic 3D model of the College’s physical grounds and buildings will allow students, faculty and visitors to join classes, campus tours, events and more in the metaverse. About the AI Center at Wolfson:
Located next to MDC’s Cybersecurity Center of the Americas and the Business Innovation & Technology Center, the nearly 5,000-square foot AI facility will serve as the epicenter for all AI-related activities in downtown Miami. Its conception and vision were made possible through support from the Miami Downtown Development Authority, the Knight Foundation, Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami. The new AI Center counts with advanced computer classrooms that will host AI courses and programs. In addition, it offers flexible spaces for the implementation of experiential learning activities and events for students and the community. MDC opened its first AI Center last fall at MDC North Campus.
About the Metaversity:
MDC’s digital-twin campus will consist of iconic buildings and classrooms from the college. Through this new interactive space in the metaverse, faculty, students and visitors will be able to attend courses, tour the facilities, access College services and join events from anywhere.
