Miami Dade College to Illuminate Freedom Tower on National Pink Day

Miami, June 14, 2022 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) will illuminate its National Historic Landmark Freedom Tower pink for National Pink Day at sunset on Thursday, June 23, in support of the Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative’s (WBHI) Summer Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.

Now in its 8th year, the campaign encourages women to get their mammograms on June 23, wear pink and find the color pink in their surroundings, take a photo and post it on https://www.facebook.com/TheWBHI/ and other social media platforms using the hashtag #wbhipinkday.

Established in 2005, the Women’s Breast & Heart (WBHI) Initiative is a nonprofit organization based in South Florida with a mission to educate and provide resources to women and college students about the importance of breast and heart health through its disease prevention & early detection initiatives. Through the community’s support, donations, and volunteerism, the WBHI reaches an average of 11,000 homes annually – providing breast and heart health education, access to mammograms and screenings for heart disease to women whose condition might otherwise go undetected.
