Miami Dade College to Host the D3 Design Annual Conference

Miami March 30, 2016 – Miami Dade College (MDC) School of Entertainment & Design Techonology, in partnership with the Idea Center will host the second annual D3 Design Conference from Monday, April 4 through 8. Due to the event’s demand and popularity, this year’s conference has expanded from a two-day event to a full week.

“The Conference provides an impressive lineup of workshops and activities assured to enrich our students as they aspire to enter careers in the design industry,” said Dr. Malou C. Harrison, president of the North Campus.

The conference will feature keynote speakers who have worked in different areas of the design industry and will provide portfolio reviews for high school and college students, mentoring sessions, a college fair, demonstrations and networking events, all free to MDC and Miami-Dade County Public School (MDCPS) students. This is also the first year for Ink Wars, a live, hands-on, design competition where students are given design prompts and forced to create something on the spot. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Given the success of this signature conference, top area companies like Burson-Marsteller, Lava Studio, Nitro, PwC, República, and others have confirmed their support and participation in this event. In addition, designers from across the country, who worked on films such as Star Wars, Iron Man, and Men in Black, will give keynote speeches about the state of design and provide demonstrations on how they design for the big screen.

The first four days of the conference will take place at various MDC campuses and the final day of demonstrations will be held at The Light Box in Wynwood (404 NW 26 Street Miami, FL).
