Miami Dade College to Host MLK Free Food Distribution for Paul Lawrence Dunbar Elementary Students Jan. 10

Miami, Jan. 9, 2018 – Miami Dade College (MDC) will host a free food distribution event to assist needy students and families at Paul Lawrence Dunbar K-8 Center on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 10 a.m.  – 3 p.m. in celebration of the life of slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The Wayne Barton Study Center Foundation donated the food that will be distributed to 400 students and their families.  The purpose of the Study Center is to enhance the health, welfare and education of children in need in the community.  The Study Center emphasizes academic development, counseling, nutritional needs, study skills, recreational activities, living skills, and citizenship in a multicultural society.

Volunteers from MDC’s Medical Campus will participate to help sort and distribute free food packages which include nutritious foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables.  Food will be available on a first come, first-served basis, while supplies last.
