Miami Dade College to Host Black Male Leadership Success Summit Feb. 15

Miami, Feb. 4, 2019 – Miami Dade College (MDC) will host its annual Black Male Leadership Success Summit with keynote speaker Dr. Marcus Bright, of the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project, on Friday, Feb. 15, at 9 a.m.

The 2019 Black Male Leadership Success Summit is a day of engagement, empowerment, and networking for black male MDC students and graduating seniors from Miami-Dade County Public Schools.  This year’s theme is “For the Culture: Embracing the goals and ideals of young black males.” Breakout sessions include topics on Critical Thinking, Education/Academic Success, Financial Literacy Mental Health, Politics and Public Speaking.

The Black Male Leadership Summit is sponsored by the college wide Black Male Initiative (BMI). The mission of BMI is to foster academic achievement, personal and professional development, as well as provide holistic support for current and future black male students who wish to obtain an education and degree at MDC. BMI’s goals are to foster community, champion academic success, promote development through mentoring, and inspire and cultivate committed leadership.
