Miami Dade College to host Big “Reveal” of its New State-of-the-art Miami Fashion Institute Oct. 31

Miami Fashion Institute is the only facility of its kind at a public higher education institution in Florida

Miami, Oct. 12, 2016 – Join Miami Dade College (MDC) in celebrating the “reveal” and grand opening of its new Miami Fashion Institute (MFI), an international fashion hub and the only one of its kind at a public higher learning institution in Florida. A red carpet entrance and ribbon cutting ceremony are planned with MDC’s President Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón, members of the MFI Board of Advisors and students at noon on Monday, Oct. 31, at MDC’s Wolfson Campus in the heart of downtown Miami.

The event will also feature video presentations and tours of MFI’s state-of-the-art facility. Models and mannequins will showcase couture created by MFI Board Chair Naeem Khan and members Oscar Carvallo, Rene Ruiz, and Mayda Cisneros. Other Board members include Barbara Hulanicki, Julian Chang, Juan E. Lopez, Stephen Brunelle, Secundino Velasco, Cathy Leff, Elysze Held, Taylor Anne Abess, Craig Robins, Oscar Feldenkreis, and Silvia Tcherassi.

Housed at MDC Wolfson Campus, MFI offers a degree program in Fashion Design & Merchandising with concentrations in fashion design and retail merchandising, working with local and international designers to develop a 21st century skilled workforce that supports industry growth and demand.
