Miami Dade College to Honor Veterans with College-wide Activities

Miami, Nov. 9, 2022 — Miami Dade College (MDC) will observe Veterans Day with community and educational activities that chronicle the sacrifices and accomplishments of the armed forces and veterans at each of its eight campuses. This year’s events include a celebration at MDC Wolfson Campus at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, with a resource fair, art exhibit, color guard from the University of Miami Army, and a keynote address from Richard A. Crusan, Deputy Chief, Public Affairs and Communications, US Southern Command. All events are free and open to the public.

Originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I, Veterans Day became a national holiday in 1938. It pays tribute to all American veterans—living or dead—but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served the country honorably during war or peacetime.
