Miami Dade College to Hold Vigils for Victims of Las Vegas Shooting

Miami, Oct. 3, 2017 – Miami Dade College (MDC) offers its deepest condolences to the victims of Sunday night’s massacre in Las Vegas and their families. In response to this horrific event, the national and state flags will be flown at half-staff and vigils will take place at several campuses.

It’s also a time to reflect on violence in the world. Just barely more than a year after the Pulse night club killings in Orlando, the Las Vegas tragedy is being called “the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history.” This has to end. Let’s work together to stop hate in whatever form it takes. Let’s commit to being advocates and instruments for peace and compassion instead of opening to hate and division.

MDC stands in solidarity with Las Vegas. Our collective thoughts go out to those who perished and their loved ones, to the more than 500 victims injured, the first responders who risked their lives and medical professionals who have been working countless hours.
