Miami, August 28, 2023 – Miami Dade College (MDC) will celebrate its 8th Annual I AM MDC Day on Wednesday, Sept. 6, honoring the College’s rich history and unparalleled impact on the community. Organized by the Miami Dade College Foundation I AM MDC Day raises critical funds for scholarships and programs for students. This year, the College will host several events to commemorate I AM MDC.
I AM MDC Day kicked off with a free Kids and Family Festival on Saturday, August 26 at MDC Hialeah Campus and will wrap up on Saturday, Sept. 16 at loanDepot Park as the Marlins take on the Atlanta Braves at 4:10 p.m. Attendees will receive exclusive MDC-Marlins branded t-shirts and special seating along 3rd base. On Wednesday, Sept. 6 at noon, MDC President Madeline Pumariega and community leaders will lead a celebration filled with activities, food, music and giveaways at MDC Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. The day will end with a #MiamiTech happy hour from 6 – 9 p.m. at FREEHOLD in Wynwood. MDC will also mark this special day by illuminating its National Landmark Freedom Tower blue.
Alumni, faculty, staff and students, as well as donors and donor organizations, community leaders and the general public, are encouraged to display their MDC pride by wearing blue on Sept. 6 and posting photos on social media with the official hashtag #IAMMDC.

West Campus will host an I AM MDC Day Parade on Tuesday, Sept. 5, with the support of City of Doral Mayor Christi Fraga. MDC employees, students, alumni and the community are invited to participate in the caravan by contributing a donation that will support scholarships for students. The parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the steps of City Hall and conclude at West Campus. Register by noon on Sept. 1 at ccalder1@mdc.edu.
