Miami Dade College Launches New Initiative for I AM MDC DAY 2024

Miami, August 14, 2024 – To mark the 9th Annual I AM MDC Day on Sept. 6, Miami Dade College (MDC) has launched “I AM MDC: Make Dreams Count,a new initiative with the goal of raising over $1 million to support students with scholarships, emergency aid, tutoring, childcare assistance, mentorship programs and other essential services.

“For more than six decades, Miami Dade College has transformed countless lives in our community through the power of education,” said MDC President Madeline Pumariega. “On I AM MDC Day, we come together to renew our commitment to helping every student reach their dreams and build MDC’s enduring legacy for future generations.”

Organized by the Miami Dade College Foundation, I AM MDC Day raises critical funds for scholarships and programs for students. Celebrations will kick off with a Kids & Family Festival on Saturday, August 17, at MDC Hialeah Campus and wrap up on Friday, Sept. 6 at loanDepot park with “MDC Night,” as the Marlins take on the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:10 p.m.

Other highlights include an I AM MDC Day Parade with City of Doral Mayor Christi Fraga at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Morgan Levy Park, and a celebration on Friday, Sept. 6, at MDC Wolfson Campus. Everyone is encouraged to display their MDC pride by wearing blue on Sept. 6 and posting photos on social media with the official hashtag #IAMMDC.
