MDC North and Kendall Campuses offering free COVID-19 testing
Miami, Jan. 19, 2021 – In addition to the comprehensive COVID-19 safety measures already in place at all campuses, Miami Dade College (MDC) has launched MDC CARE (Comprehensive Access to Resources and Education), an initiative to facilitate vaccines for MDC employees 65 and older and provide free COVID-19 testing for MDC students, employees, and the community at large.
The College has partnered with Curative to provide COVID-19 testing at North and Kendall Campuses at no cost. Results will be sent via a private portal within 24-48 hours. Testing is available by appointment only, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Walk-ups will not be allowed.
As part of MDC CARE, the College is also working with multiple community partners to facilitate vaccinations for employees 65 and older. At this time, many MDC employees 65+ have already received or are scheduled to receive vaccinations at Jackson Health System. Pending federal and state direction on the expansion of the population eligible for vaccines, the College is also considering the possibility of utilizing MDC locations and qualified faculty and students to administer vaccines in the future.
Since the start of the pandemic, MDC has made student and employee safety its top priority and continues serving the community in many ways. Campuses have been used as a food and relief distribution centers during and following emergencies, as well serving as staging points for local, state, and federal partners and utility companies. Most recently, MDC campuses have served as food and technology distribution sites in response to the pandemic.
