Miami Dade College Joins Microsoft Learn for Educators Program

MIAMI, July 21, 2021 Miami Dade College (MDC) announces a collaboration with Microsoft Learn for Educators to train faculty in Microsoft technology, curriculum and industry certifications. With access to the tools and materials included in the program, MDC will also offer credit and non-credit courses for students to obtain industry-recognized Microsoft certifications for the latest emerging technologies.

Microsoft Learn for Educators takes the best of Microsoft Learn online learning paths and supporting instructor-led training materials and brings it into the classroom. Eligible educators and faculty members can access Microsoft ready-to-teach curriculum and teaching materials aligned to industry-recognized Microsoft Certifications. This curriculum will provide students with tools and trainings to develop future-ready skills and arm them to take charge when they enter the job market

“This collaboration with Microsoft will allow MDC to expand its training offering of Microsoft certifications in various areas, including cloud computing and artificial intelligence, and prepare students for the jobs of today and tomorrow,” said Antonio Delgado, dean of MDC’s School of Engineering, Technology and Design.

“For students, adding Microsoft Certifications to their profiles alongside artifacts from class projects demonstrates not only their learning from coursework, but also a commitment to keeping up with the evolving forefront of technology,” said, Rachel Wortman Morris, Ph.D., Future Skills Transformation Lead, Microsoft Worldwide Learning.

MDC has been part of previous pilot programs with Microsoft Learn for Educators to train students and faculty in Microsoft Azure Fundamentals and Azure Administrator courses. Through these pilots, Microsoft provided industry certification exam vouchers, practice tests, official Microsoft learning products and training to support participating educators and students. As a result, five MDC faculty and more than 25 students became Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals and/or Azure Administrator.
