Miami Dade College Foundation Appoints New Leaders to Board of Directors

Miami, May 14, 2024 – Miami Dade College (MDC) Foundation announced the appointment of Jorge A. Plasencia, Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of Republica Havas Group and proud MDC alumnus, as chair of the Board of Directors, and Pablo Pino, Market President of South Florida for TD Bank, as vice chair.

“I am pleased to welcome our new Foundation board chair and vice chair, and look forward to working together to further the College’s mission of making quality education accessible to all and expanding opportunities for our students and the community,” said MDC President Madeline Pumariega.

Plasencia has had a lifelong commitment to giving back to the community. At age 17, he co-founded Amigos For Kids, a Miami-based nonprofit fighting child abuse and assisting under-resourced families. He currently serves on several boards, including PBS, the Aspen Institute Latinos and Society Program and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.

“As an MDC alum and member of the Alumni Hall of Fame, I am honored that my colleagues have elected me to serve as Board Chair,” Plasencia said. “I look forward to working with the Board and our stellar staff to continue advancing the pivotal mission and strategic role of the Foundation.”

Pino’s exceptional leadership skills and unwavering commitment to empowering the community will help expand the Foundation’s overall mission and goals. He serves on the boards of The Education Fund, United Home Care, the Center for Financial Training, the Urban League of South Florida and the Beacon Council.
