Miami, May 29, 2024 – In an exciting collaboration with Miami Fashion Week, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) renowned Miami Fashion Institute (MFI) will host its annual Graduate Show at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, at Paradise Plaza, a premier venue in the Miami Design District known for its contemporary art and fashion showcases. Proceeds from ticket sales will help fund MFI scholarships. Working media is welcome.
Titled “REFLECTION,” this year’s show will spotlight the work of 15 distinguished graduates who recently completed their Associate in Science in Fashion Design degrees at MDC. These emerging designers were meticulously selected by a jury of industry professionals, ensuring the collections showcased represent the pinnacle of student talent and creativity. Designs will be worn by professional models, including celebrity guest model Carlos Adyan.
“This year’s designers have crafted unique collections that not only showcase their technical skills but also reflect their identities and future design aspirations,” said Oscar Lopez, MFI Chair. “The theme ‘REFLECTION’ embodies the journey of self-discovery and expression that each student has undertaken during their time at MFI.”
In addition to receiving diplomas, MFI will present awards by high-profile fashion names in the following categories: The Retail Concept Award by Saks Fifth Avenue, The Collaboration Award by The House of Arts, The Editorial Award by Brickell Magazine, and The Made in Miami Award by Miami Fashion Week.
MDC’s Miami Fashion Institute offers the region’s only two-year program at a public institution, offering associate degrees in fashion design and merchandising. The industry-driven program prepares students to work as creative professionals in fashion, emphasizing design, technology, retail and merchandising. Students also have the opportunity to go on to top four-year programs both domestically and internationally. From concept to production, MFI provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the fashion industry, supported by a curriculum that blends creativity with practical experience.
