Miami, Jan. 21, 2025 – In a transformative move to address the global crisis of human trafficking, Miami Dade College (MDC) is leading a national effort in partnership with Manor House Films, the production company behind the powerful new film “City of Dreams,” to raise awareness and foster informed action through impactful storytelling at colleges and universities across the country.
Through this partnership, the film and its educational resources will serve as a tool for educators, allowing integration into curricula across disciplines. The initiative aims to inspire dialogue, advocacy, and solutions among students.
“At Miami Dade College, we are passionate about providing educational opportunities that address real-world challenges,” said Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega. “This partnership amplifies the reach of ‘City of Dreams,’ enabling students everywhere to learn, reflect, and act on the issue of human trafficking.”
Directed by Mohit Ramchandani, “City of Dreams” unearths the harrowing realities of child trafficking, telling a story of resilience and hope. Supported by prominent advocates such as Tony Robbins, Luis Fonsi, and Mira Sorvino, the film highlights the 12 million children trafficked worldwide and calls audiences to action against exploitation.
Florida Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz Jr., who serves on the Florida Statewide Council on Human Trafficking, underscored the initiative’s broader educational impact.
“Education is the most powerful tool to drive awareness and inspire change,” said Commissioner Diaz. By making City of Dreams available to institutions nationwide, Miami Dade College and Manor House Films are equipping educators and students with a compelling resource to confront the critical issue of human trafficking.”
“Our goal with City of Dreams is to create a catalyst for change by fostering understanding and action. By collaborating with Miami Dade College, we’re able to expand this mission to institutions across the country, empowering students and communities to stand against trafficking,” said John Devaney, producer of City of Dreams and founder of Manor House Films.
