Miami Dade College and Florida Department of Education’s Vocational Rehabilitation Program Partner to Open New Satellite Office

Miami, March 22, 2024 Miami Dade College (MDC) announced the opening of the Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Office, a partnership with the Florida Department of Education to establish a satellite office at MDC North Campus that will work closely with the ACCESS Disability Resource Department to help individuals with disabilities find and maintain employment and enhance their independence. The grand opening of this valuable student resource will take place at noon on Monday, April 1.

“The opening of the Vocational Rehabilitation Office, in partnership with the Department of Education, affirms our dedication to empowering individuals of all abilities to achieve their fullest potential. Together, we are building a campus where every student can thrive. I am immensely proud of this collaborative effort and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our campus community,” said North Campus President Fermin Vazquez.

VR has reinvented itself over the last century to meet the ever-changing employment needs and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and the demands of public policy. VR will continue incorporating new services and methods that will be relevant for the next 100 years to improve employment outcomes for eligible individuals with physical and mental disabilities.

The Office will assist students with varying disabilities and grant them the opportunity to maximize their educational and career endeavors.
