Enterprises Around the World to Compete in the International Cyber League (ICL) Americas Cyber Cup
Miami, May 2, 2023 – Cyberbit, the world’s leading cyber skills development and readiness platform, has partnered with Miami Dade College (MDC), designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity by the National Security Agency (NSA), to present the first International Cyber League (ICL) Americas Cyber Cup, starting Monday, May 22, through July 14. The virtual tournament is open to MDC students and participants from around the world.
The ICL Americas Cyber Cup will challenge participants with cyber labs that test their individual knowledge and live-fire exercises that test their incident response skills and their ability to work as a team. The live-fire exercises are powered by Cyberbit’s cyber range, which immerses teams in a virtual security operations center (SOC) that includes enterprise-grade networks and commercial security tools and simulates a real-world cyber-attack. Teams are required to detect and respond to the live attack and are scored according to the response time and their overall detection, investigation, and remediation performance.
“Miami Dade College is committed to leading the growth of the region’s cybersecurity workforce and helping to raise the cyber readiness levels of public and private entities,” said Jorge Ortega, Director of MDC’s Cybersecurity Center of the Americas. “We believe that competitions like the ICL Americas Cyber Cup are a vital component of cyber readiness, providing critical hands-on experience and the chance to perform as a team under pressure.
MDC and Cyberbit have a long history of collaboration, beginning with the opening of MDC’s Cybersecurity Center of the Americas and Cyber Range training facility in 2018. The training center uses Cyberbit’s cyber range to provide hands-on cyber skills development for cybersecurity students and professionals.
“We are very excited to join MDC in its vital efforts to grow cyber readiness and resilience by developing and training elite cybersecurity professionals,” said Susan Green, Senior National Director at Cyberbit. “The ICL Americas Cup allows cyber defense teams to stress-test their technical skills and essential softs skills like teamwork and communication. By leveraging Cyberbit’s cyber range, cyber defense teams can develop, test and benchmark their cyber defense skills, helping them identify performance gaps and strengths and master the skills they need to become leaders in the field.”
Teams will compete for the prestigious title of “Best Cyber Defense Team in the Americas” and prizes, including a MacBook Pro, an iPad Pro 11, an Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Air Pod Pro. Register for the ICL Americas Cyber Cup here.
