Miami Book Fair’s Children’s Alley Returns with a FIFA Station, Grammy Winners and Newbery Medal Authors

Miami, Nov. 14, 2024 – Miami Book Fair’s magical Children’s Alley welcomes young readers and their families for three days of literary adventures during the Street Fair weekend, Nov. 22-24. From Grammy-winning musicians to Newbery Medal authors, this year’s lineup promises a celebration of creativity, learning and imagination!

Grammy Award-winning artist Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band bring bilingual pop tunes to the Participate! Stage, delivering smart, crafty lyrics and irresistible fun beats on Friday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. and Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3:30 p.m. Diaz is also the award-winning author of the picture books Paletero and La Guitarrista.

Newbery Medalist and National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Meg Medina visits Stanza’s Story Wagon on Saturday, Nov 23, at 2 p.m. to share her heartwarming new picture book, No More Señora Mimí, a touching tale about community and caregivers. Later that day, don’t miss the epic Illustrator Draw-Off at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov 23, and again at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, where celebrated artists Jerry Craft, John Hendrix and Edel Rodriguez will battle it out with markers and imagination. Hosted by author/illustrator George O’Connor.

Other Children’s Alley highlights include:

BattleBots Demo on Friday, Nov. 22 at 11:30 a.m. and Sunday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. where kids discover the exciting world of combat robotics at the Learn! Canopy. Art lovers can create their own works during Art Rocks! DIY Stone Paintings with Tori Scott, transforming simple stones into Jackson Pollock-style masterpieces on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the Create! Canopy.

Learn the incredible story of how the first World Cup trophy was stolen and recovered by a dog, create your own trophy or mascot, and test your knowledge at the FIFA Museum Soccer Station. And look out for photo opportunities and special giveaways with Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man, everyone’s favorite canine cop who’s part dog, part man, and all hero.

The Read & Chill Lounge will host a family yoga session with Namaste + Play at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24. In the afternoon, this open-air lounge is perfect for relaxing with a new book on a beanbag.
