Miami Book Fair to Host 3rd Annual Next Page on Nov. 21

MIAMI (November 18, 2025)Now celebrating 42 years, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Miami Book Fair will host its 3rd Annual Next Page Dinner, on Friday, Nov. 21. This special evening honors exceptional community leaders and authors with deep connections to Miami and the Fair. Proceeds will benefit the Fair’s NEXT DECADE FUND and Children’s Alley, a hub for entertainment and learning for children and families.

This year’s Next Page event will honor Maika Moulite & Maritza Moulite, Carl Hiaasen, The Shepard Broad Foundation (principals Deborah Bussel and John Bussel), and Dr. Edda L. Fields-Black and Dr. Dorothy Jenkins Fields, six honorees whose work has shaped South Florida’s cultural and literary landscape.

The Moulite sisters grew up attending Miami Book Fair programs like Children’s Alley and Generation Genius, experiences that helped inspire their path as acclaimed young adult authors. Hiaasen, a celebrated journalist and novelist, has long captured the humor, contradictions, and untamed character of Florida life, introducing readers around the world to the state’s wild spirit. The Shepard Broad Foundation is recognized for its enduring commitment to education, community enrichment and access to the arts across Miami-Dade County. Dr. Fields-Black and her mother, Dr. Jenkins Fields are being honored for their pioneering work in preserving and sharing Miami’s Black history and cultural heritage.

“This event really captures what Miami Book Fair is all about – community, storytelling and the people who make this city so unique,” said Lissette Mendez, executive director for Miami Book Fair. “Honoring writers and leaders who’ve grown with us, alongside authors who’ve shaped the way we see Florida and the world, feels especially meaningful.”

The Next Page brings together Miami’s literary community for an intimate evening where every table hosts an acclaimed author. Guests will dine and converse directly with some of today’s most exciting voices in literature while receiving signed copies of their books. The evening will also feature an expanded silent auction with items ranging from hotel stays and cruises to exclusive author events and other literary experiences, along with special entertainment, making it an unforgettable night of celebration.

Guests will be joined by a dazzling lineup of authors, including:
