MDC’s Medical Campus to Host Day in the Life of a Nurse Celebration

Miami, Nov. 2, 2016-  Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Benjamin Leon School of Nursing will host 40 students from Hialeah Gardens High at 9 a.m., Friday, Nov. 4, during a “Day in the Life of a  Nurse” (DITLOAN) celebration at MDC’s Medical Campus.

DITLOAN’s goal is to spark interest among youth to consider nursing profession as a career in their future. When youth is exposed and introduced early in life to nursing or other health professions, children will be more proactive to pursue those degrees, and consider MDC’s Medical Campus as their future education choice.

The School of Nursing will be hosting senior level students who are in the Hialeah Gardens High School Science Magnet Program, which is a National Academy Foundation (NAF) designated school. The NAF designation is an impressive accolade for any high school to receive.

The guests will tour the nursing skills lab, high fidelity human patient simulation lab, and health allied programs lab such as the vision, dental, radiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy and wellness clinic.

DITLOAN is a yearly project where the School of Nursing partners with Nursing Consortium of South Florida and Miami-Dade Schools.
