MDC’s Jazz at Wolfson Presents Trumpeter and Composer Nadje Noordhuis Jan. 19

Miami, Jan. 13, 2022 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Arts and Philosophy Department continues its popular jazz series, Jazz at Wolfson Presents, with trumpeter and composer Nadje Noordhuis, who will delight audiences via livestream at noon, Wednesday, Jan. 19.  All Jazz at Wolfson Presents performances are free and open to the public. Australian-born Noordhuis possess one of the most unforgettably lyrical voices in modern music.  In 2007 she was one of ten semi-finalists in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition and in 2010 was selected as a Carnegie Hall Young Artist.

Based in New York since 2003, she is a member of the multiple Grammy award winning Maria Schneider Orchestra, Grammy-nominated Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, and the Grammy-nominated Anat Cohen Tentet.

She has three albums of original compositions on her record label, Little Mystery Records. Her eponymous debut jazz quintet album featuring Grammy nominees Sara Caswell and Geoffrey Keezer was released to critical acclaim in 2012. Her 2015 contemplative duo album of miniatures with pianist Luke Howard, Ten Sails, has garnered much international attention, with multi-million streams on Spotify and YouTube. Her 2017 album with vibraphonist/synthesist James Shipp, Indigo, was premiered at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival in Australia.

Her latest album, Gullfoss, recorded live in Switzerland and released in September 2021, features harpist Maeve Gilchrist, guitarist Jesse Lewis, bassist Ike Sturm and percussionist James Shipp.
