MDC’s InterAmerican Campus to Host International Education Week

Miami, Nov. 7, 2018 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) InterAmerican Campus will host International Education Week, with various activities that highlight study abroad, world languages, and global citizenship.  Events are free and open to the public.

International Education Week, a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, offers an opportunity to celebrate the enriching benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This program is part of the government’s efforts to prepare students for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the U.S. First held in 2000, International Education Week is celebrated at colleges and universities throughout the nation and in more than 100 countries worldwide.

Wednesday, Nov. 14, 9 – 9:50 a.m., Room 401

Geo Quiz: Students vie for prizes as they test their knowledge of world geography.

Wednesday, Nov. 14, 10-10:30 a.m., Room 401

Study Abroad

Hear students speak on how their adventures abroad to places like Italy, Greece, and France have enhanced their understanding of the humanities.

Wednesday, Nov. 14, 1-2 p.m., Room 401

Study Abroad, Literature: Harry Potter and Game of Thrones Info Session

Students will engage in a conversation focused on an opportunity to study in England, Scotland, and Croatia in summer 2019.

Wednesday, Nov. 14, 6-7 p.m.,

Schools around the World, Learning Commons: Students will present posters inspired by the theme of schools around the world.

Thursday, Nov. 15, 11:15 a.m. -12:30 p.m., Room 3103

Film: Secrets of the Forbidden City

Students will engage in a virtual journey to Beijing, where they will be enriched by the historic palace complex and all its architectural marvels.

Monday, Nov. 19

Celebrating and Learning with International Education Week, throughout the week at the Learning Commons: An opportunity to learn more about international education with student research, posters, books, and film displays from around the world.

Monday, Nov. 19, 6 – 6:30 p.m., Room 6021-02

International Pictionary: Students will play an international and mathematically-themed form of this well-known game that will include global highlights.
