MDC’s InterAmerican Campus to Host Influential Hispano Americanos Art Exhibition

Miami, Sept. 11, 2018 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) InterAmerican Campus will host an opening reception for Influential Hispano Americanos: A Portrait Exhibition of Artists and Writers at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the InterAmerican Campus Art Gallery. The exhibition and opening program are free and open to the public.

The opening will feature local artist Mariana Altamirano and a collection of portraits in various media as part of a larger collection titled Influences, which was conceived between 2004 and 2009. The portraits are a detailed study of the appearance of artists that have shaped Altamirano’s work as an artist. They are intriguing and capture the relationship between physical appearance and the conceived image, physical, and imagined in the artist’s mind. Altamirano’s colleagues Orlando Coré and Mario Rosales Junco, talented musician and writer, respectively, will present music and poems at the opening reception.

The exhibition will remain on display through Oct. 9.
