Miami, Nov. 1, 2016 – The Idea Center at Miami Dade College (MDC) will celebrate two years of innovation with a special presentation by Mike Lester, technology transfer partnership manager at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, starting at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 1. This event is free and open to the public.
Lester leads a team to promote transfer of NASA patented technologies to U.S. commercial companies, government agencies and academia. He has an eclectic history of engineering, project management, business development, and strategic planning accomplishments for the U.S. military and NASA space programs.
He will discuss NASA’s patented space program, The NASA Technology Transfer (T2), which provides space technologies to commercial companies, inventors, and entrepreneurs who, in turn, use them to create new products and services for use here on Earth.
The products/services people have created from NASA patented technologies over the years are called NASA Spinoffs. There have been about 1800 spinoffs since NASA was founded and collectively they have significantly contributed to the U.S. economy. Learn more at http://spinoff.nasa.gov/.
