Miami, Oct. 13, 2016 – The beloved Evenings With… series is back for the 33rd edition of the Miami Book Fair, (MBF) Nov. 13 – 20, at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Wolfson Campus in the heart of downtown Miami.
An annual festival favorite, The Evenings With…series brings to Miami acclaimed novelists, journalists, screenwriters, humorists, and poets who read from and discuss their latest works. Miami Book Fair is pleased to have WLRN as the Presenting Sponsor of this year’s Evenings With series.

This year’s lineup features international best-selling children’s author Eoin Colfer (Iron Man: The Gauntlet); James Carville (We’re Still Right, They’re Still Wrong: The Democrats’ Case for 2016); Alan Cumming (You Gotta Get Bigger Dreams: My Life in Stories and Pictures); Maureen Dowd (The Year of Voting Dangerously: The Derangement of American Politics); Tavis Smiley (Before You Judge Me: The Triumph and Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days); Annette Gordon-Reed and Peter S. Onuf (Most Blessed of the Patriarchs: Thomas Jefferson and the Empire of the Imagination); Jeffrey Toobin (American Heiress: The Wild Saga of the Kidnapping, Crimes and Trial of Patty Hearst); and finally an evening with National Book Awards winners and finalists.

Sunday, Nov. 13, at 4 p.m.
In his latest Iron Man adventure, Iron Man: The Gauntlet, international best-selling Children’s author Eoin Colfer explores just how invincible the Invincible Iron Man is when he is stripped of everything.
Monday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m.
In We’re Still Right, They’re Still Wrong: The Democrats’ Case for 2016, famed political consultant James Carville turns in the most cogent and thoughtful analysis of the 2016 presidential campaign and how the Democrats can—and must—be victorious.
Monday, Nov. 14, at 8 p.m.
In You Gotta Get Bigger Dreams: My Life in Stories and Pictures, multi-talented, multi-award winning Alan Cumming presents 45 picture essays that recount his real-life adventures (and often, misadventures), illustrated by his own equally entertaining photographs.
Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m.
In The Secret Chord, Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Geraldine Brooks breathes new life into history and legend, reimagining the life of the biblical King David through the eyes of the prophet Nathan.
Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m.
The Year of Voting Dangerously: The Derangement of American Politics is columnist and political observer Maureen Dowd’s incendiary takes and takedowns from 2016–the most bizarre, disruptive and divisive Presidential race in modern history.
Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 8 p.m.
Celebrated talk show host Tavis Smiley presents Before You Judge Me: The Triumph and Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days, a powerful chronicle of the sixteen weeks leading up to the King of Pop’s death.
Thursday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m.
In Most Blessed of the Patriarchs: Thomas Jefferson and the Empire of the Imagination, Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award-winning historian Annette Gordon-Reed and Jefferson scholar Peter S. Onuf present an absorbing and revealing character study that dispels the many clichés that have accrued over the years about our third president.
Thursday, Nov. 17, at 8 p.m.
Historian, author, and legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin’s American Heiress: The Wild Saga of the Kidnapping, Crimes and Trial of Patty Hearst is the definitive account of the kidnapping and trial that defined a crazy, turbulent era in American history.
Friday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m.
Once again, the Fair, in partnership with the National Book Foundation and with the generous support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, welcomes the 2016 finalists and winners of the prestigious National Book Foundation’s National Book Awards in all categories.
Unless otherwise noted, the Evenings With… series takes place at MDC Wolfson Campus’ Chapman Conference Center, 300 N.E. Second Ave. (Building 3, 2nd floor). Space is limited for ticketed events; early registration is encouraged.
Evening With… tickets are $15 and will go on sale to Friends of the Fair Oct. 24 and Oct. 31 to the general public.
