MDC Wolfson Campus Presents “Little Women: The Broadway Musical”

Miami, March 23, 2022 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Arts and Philosophy department at the Wolfson Campus presents a new rendition of Little Women: The Broadway Musical, directed by Alex Leon and Amy Ibberson Davis with choreography by Delma Iles. The performance will take place Thursday and Friday, April 7 & 8, at 7 p.m. at the Wolfson Campus Auditorium.

Little Women has been praised by critics for its ambition in adapting such a well-known story for the stage. This timeless, captivating story is brought to life in this musical filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope and everlasting love. The original production starred the unparalleled Sutton Foster, who received Tony Award, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk nominations for her performance. The original musical was based on a book by Allan Knee with lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, and music by Jason Howland.

Based on novelist Louisa May Alcott’s life, Little Women is a story of love and family that follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she has to do better and write more from herself. Reluctantly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America.

The music program at MDC Wolfson Campus encompasses a variety of ensembles, including the Opera/Musical Theatre Ensemble, College Choir, Chamber Music Ensembles, the Gospel Ensemble and the Jazz Ensemble.
