MDC to Unveil New AI Innovation Hub at Kendall Campus

MIAMI, March 13, 2026 — Miami Dade College’s (MDC) acclaimed AI program continues its successful expansion with the opening of its AI Innovation Hub at Kendall Campus. The milestone will be celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by guided tours on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. Working media are welcome.

“At Miami Dade College, we are committed to preparing our community for the jobs of tomorrow while strengthening South Florida’s growing technology economy,” said MDC President Madeline Pumariega. “The opening of the AI Innovation Hub at our Kendall Campus marks an exciting step forward for our students and our region, bringing together advanced computing labs, a robotics arena and collaborative spaces designed to foster innovation and research. Through partnerships with leading companies such as Intel, Google, Microsoft and IBM, we are creating opportunities for students and professionals to gain hands-on experience with emerging technologies like generative AI, machine learning and quantum computing.”

The new state-of-the-art facility is located on the first floor of Building 6 and includes specialized instructional spaces such as a Smart Solutions Center, a Cognitive Applications Lab, an AI Applications Studio, a Metaverse Arch Studio, a Cybersecurity Classroom, a Network Solutions Lab and a RoboTech Lab, along with The Nook Huddle, a dedicated collaboration space for interdisciplinary engagement.

At the entrance, visitors will encounter an interactive AI installation demonstrating real-time conversational intelligence embedded within the academic environment. The installation integrates live audio capture, AI processing and real-time visual rendering, illustrating how artificial intelligence can function as infrastructure within a learning space. Glass storefront classrooms provide visibility from the building atrium, reinforcing transparency and engagement while showcasing applied learning in action.

Spanning more than 7,000 sq. ft., the AI Innovation Hub at Kendall Campus marks MDC’s first fully comprehensive instructional space dedicated to artificial intelligence. Building on the success of its first AI Center at North Campus in 2022 and a second at Wolfson Campus in 2023, the College continues to expand cutting-edge opportunities for students in this rapidly evolving field.

Miami Dade College’s robust AI program equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving technology landscape. The program offers certificates, an associate in science degree and Florida’s first bachelor’s degree in applied artificial intelligence, providing multiple pathways for learners to advance their careers. Students gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools in AI, machine learning and data analytics through real-world projects and research initiatives. To date, MDC has equipped more than 4,000 students with in-demand AI skills while more than 1,000 faculty have been empowered to integrate AI across disciplines.  The College has also extended applied AI learning beyond traditional degree pathways to serve workforce and community learners. MDC’s AI programs are part of the College’s School of Engineering and Technology (EnTec). Learn more at: https://www.mdc.edu/entec/programs.aspx
