MDC North Campus to Host International Ballet Festival Young Medalists Performance

Miami, Aug. 29, 2016- Miami Dade College’s (MDC) North Campus will once again host the International Young Medalists Ballet Performance, as part of the 21st Annual International Ballet Festival of Miami, at 11 a.m.,  Wednesday, Sept. 7 in the Lehman Theater.  The event is free and open to the public.

“Our new academic year is marked by several initiatives toward further internationalizing North Campus, one of which is the enriching showcase of young, talented ballet dancers from throughout the world,” said Dr. Malou C. Harrison, president of the North Campus.

This popular event will feature young medalists who have won ballet competitions throughout the world through the collaboration of the annual student ballet competition, Youth America Grand Prix. This event is made possible through a longstanding partnership between MDC and the Miami Hispanic Ballet. The International Ballet Festival of Miami brings together the world’s most prestigious dance companies.

The Festival, the only one of its kind in the state of Florida, is responsible for bringing to Miami-Dade County the works of more than 100 artists from more than 20 worldwide ballet companies representing countries from Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America. The festival incorporates a dance film series, art exhibits, book presentations, workshops, master classes and six live performances to provide an event that serves the diverse audience of Miami-Dade County.
