MDC Miami Fashion Institute Students to Showcase Original Designs at Graduate Show June 11

Miami, June 3, 2022Miami Dade College’s (MDC) acclaimed Miami Fashion Institute (MFI) will hit the runway at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 11, with its annual Graduate Show at MDC’s Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. The event will showcase original designs by MDC students in the fashion program. Proceeds from ticket sales will help fund MFI scholarships. Working media is welcome.

The theme for this year’s Graduate Show is “Culture and Texture.” Fifteen graduates of the Associate in Science in Fashion Design were selected by a jury of industry professionals to showcase their works on the runway, in collaboration with The Miami Fashion Show.

“After a two-year hiatus, these students represent the unique spirit of a generation that has not only survived the pandemic but managed to thrive,” said Asanyah Davidson, MFI chair.

MDC’s Miami Fashion Institute offers the region’s only two-year program at a public institution, offering associate degrees in fashion design and fashion merchandising. The program is industry-driven and prepares students to work as creative professionals in the world of fashion, emphasizing design, technology and retail and merchandising. Students also have the opportunity to go on to top 4-year programs both domestically and internationally. From concept to production, students learn the process, skills and language of fashion design and technology. They also gain hands-on experience by participating in various events, including Miami Fashion Week. To learn more about MFI, visit www.mdc.edu/fashion.
