MDC Hialeah Campus to Unveil New Sculpture and Exhibition by Artist Zammy Migdal

Miami, Jan. 9, 2018 Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Hialeah Campus will unveil a new sculpture, Square Chain, by artist Zammy Migdal, as well as the opening of his exhibition, Ondulation, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Campus’ North Plaza.

“I use the language of abstraction, dynamic shapes and distinctive colors to transmit through art the essence of movement. Often, lyrical and poetic artworks, flow, move like dancers,” said Migdal. “It is my intention to re-invent, over and over, the perception of volumes, of empty spaces, the harmonies of color and the effects produced by the shadows within my sculptures. I use the strongest materials to delicately depict equilibrium, stress, torsion, swings or the act of stretching, influenced by my interest and active support of contemporary dance. Composition, balance and elegance are fundamental qualities in my work.”

Born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel, Migdal creates seemingly flowing and delicate-looking three-dimensional sculptures made from scrapped and raw metal. Through his artwork, he depicts feelings and emotional instants of life. The main subject of his sculptures is life itself, individually and events that affect the entire community. He creates a variety of textures and visual effects, from rusty appearance to shiny, vibrant colors.
