MDC and UM Announce Articulation Agreement to Master’s Degree in Data Analytics

Miami, May 5, 2021 – In an ongoing effort to expand post-graduate opportunities for its students, Miami Dade College (MDC) is collaborating with the University of Miami (UM) to establish a transfer program articulation agreement that allows MDC graduates with a bachelor’s degree in data analytics to seamlessly transfer to a master’s degree in data science at UM with a special tuition discount.

“This collaboration between MDC and UM creates a unique pathway for our students to achieve economic mobility and help develop a local workforce trained in the fields of data science and analytics,” said Antonio Delgado, dean of engineering, technology and design at MDC.

The agreement ensures that students graduating from MDC’s School of Engineering and Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Data Analytics and a grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher qualify for admission into the Master of Science in Data Science at UM’s College of Arts and Sciences. Additionally, MDC graduates admitted in the UM program will be eligible to receive a 50% discount on tuition to complete 30 graduate level credits and earn their master’s degree in one calendar year if enrolled full-time.

“Miami’s booming tech scene is going to need a highly-trained, diverse talent pool who can work in a variety of fields,” said Maryann Tatum Tobin, assistant dean for professional education and personalized learning at UM’s College of Arts and Sciences. “This unique interdisciplinary program provides opportunities for students to apply data analytics and visualization across several disciplines through our partnership with the UM Institute for Data Science and Computing.”
