MIAMI (Oct. 14, 2025) – The Miami Dade College (MDC) Foundation (MDCF) is proud to announce that critically acclaimed actress, filmmaker, and humanitarian Lucy Liu will be the featured speaker at its Women Who Lead luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the newly renovated Freedom Tower.
Now in its fourth year, Women Who Lead brings together community leaders, alumni, students, and supporters to spotlight the achievements of women across industries. The event fosters thought-provoking conversation, mentorship, and inspiration—qualities embodied by this year’s guest speaker.
“Our annual Women Who Lead luncheon is a signature event celebrating the voices and leadership of women who drive meaningful change,” said Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega. “Lucy Liu’s remarkable career as an artist and dedicated advocate will inspire students and the community to lead with vision and courage.”
Liu is internationally recognized for her groundbreaking career spanning film, television, and the arts. She has starred in box office hits that have grossed more than $3.7 billion worldwide, including “Kill Bill,” “Charlie’s Angels,” “Chicago,” “Set It Up,” “Presence,” and “Red One.” She recently produced and stars in the indie feature “Rosemead,” which will receive its Florida Premiere at Miami Film Festival’s GEMS Festival this month, where Liu will also be honored with the Precious Gem Award, the Festival’s highest distinction.
Her creative reach extends beyond acting. Liu has produced and championed documentaries such as Freedom’s Fury and Redlight, earned Emmy nominations for Ally McBeal and The Pirate Queen (VR), and exhibited her visual art worldwide. A longtime UNICEF Ambassador, she has used her platform to advocate for children, equity, and human rights. In 2019, Liu became the second Asian American woman in nearly 60 years to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Women Who Lead has featured many talented and inspiring women over the years, including Kelly Bishop, Kerry Washington, Nicolette Brent, all using their platforms to spark change through education. Proceeds from the event benefit scholarships and student success initiatives at Miami Dade College.
The 2025 Women Who Lead event will feature appearances from its Presenting Sponsors Achieve Miami and Miami Supreme Home Services, and Premier Sponsors Verizon and Amazon. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available at foundation.mdc.edu/g/women-who-lead-2025.
