Leading the way, 18 MDC Students Named to the 2022 All-Florida Academic Team

Miami, April 7, 2022 – An impressive 18 Miami Dade College (MDC) students were named to the 2022 All-Florida Academic Team in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and service to the community in 2021. Each year the Florida College System (FCS) recognizes Florida’s highest-achieving students along with Phi Theta Kappa, the nation’s premier honor society at associate degree-granting colleges. Winners were recognized at an awards ceremony April 1.

In addition to being named to the All-Florida Academic Team, MDC student Susana Piedrahita was among 20 of the nation’s top college students named to the distinguished 2022 All-USA Academic Team and will receive a $5,000 scholarship.

“The Florida College System is nationally-recognized for providing access to success for students and communities across all of Florida,” said FCS Chancellor Kathy Hebda. “I am thrilled to celebrate the achievements of our students and the dedication of our colleges in supporting them to reach their highest potential. These students are already making a difference and will continue to have a positive impact on the future in their families, their communities and our state.”

The MDC students selected are part of 144 college students from across Florida. The awardees were nominated by their respective colleges.
